One might call Karate an educated way of street fighting, but as you study karate you’ll find that there is much more to it than this.
Karate as a martial art, which was perfected in Okinawa after many centuries in the Orient, is based upon both mental and body discipline. It is considered to be one of the finest forms of physical exercise.
Isshinryu Karate is an Okinawan martial arts system developed by the late Tatsuo Shimabuku, 10th. Degree Black Belt. The most notable aspect of this system is the vertical punch strengthened by the thumb on top position, and the use of speed and snap to generate power.
Isshinryu means “One Heart Way” and emphasizes the unity and brotherhood of all. We develop a skill, but will use it only as a last resort!
